The resubmitted four-storey apartment block plans could be approved next week - June 29 (Cheshire East Planning).

An application for a four storey apartment in Crewe deferred over the lack of parking - will be considered again next week.

Premier Living Homes plans to build the 11 apartment block on the corner of Edleston Road and Brook Street.

The council's planning officers have recommended the scheme be approved.

The application was deferred at last month's (May 25), meeting of the southern planning committee for a site visit.

Premier Living Homes hopes to build the 11 apartment block on the corner of Edleston Road and Brook Street (Ryan Parker).

Councillors had raised some concerns about the proposal - including parking.

They questioned whether four spaces would be enough.

Crewe councillor Jill Rhodes (Lab) had told the committee that was not even half the number there should be, adding: "This is unacceptable, it would not be tolerated anywhere else in the borough."

Cllr Steve Hogben (Crewe South, Lab) had said: "I'm not happy about the parking arrangements, just four places."

It later became apparent only three of the spaces were accessible.

In a report to next Wednesday's (June 29) committee meeting, the planning officer states: "Since the deferral of the application a revised ground floor plan has been provided.

"This plan shows that one car-parking space which it was not possible to access has been removed from the scheme."

Local councillors had raised concerns about parking. Only three spaces are being created (Ryan Parker).

The report states the council's highways department has not objected to the reduction in parking spaces.

During the May meeting, applicant Mr Matt Peddle said the properties would be rented and generally the occupants would be single people.

He said a lot of the tenants in similar properties his company rented were doctors and nurses or people on short term contracts with Bentley.

Mr Peddle also said most tenants didn't need a car in a sustainable location and because his company managed the site, he didn't envisage there would be an issue with parking.

In the report, the planning officer states: "The proposed development is appropriate to the character of its locality in terms of the principle and the overall design.

"The development would not have a detrimental impact upon neighbouring amenity, local heritage, ecology, highway safety or trees.

Applicant, Mr Matt Peddle, said the properties would be rented and the occupants would be generaly single people (Google).

He adds: "The proposal will provide housing in a sustainable location, easily accessed by public transport, within walking distance of the town centre, and not reliant on the private car."

The application will be considered at Wednesday's (June 29) meeting of the southern planning application - taking place at Crewe Municipal Buildings (10am).
