A CREWE-BASED global business services company hopes the force will be with its staff when they settle in at a Star Wars-themed sky bar, part of its new office development.

Radius Payment Solutions has started work on the three-storey office block at Arden Square on Crewe Business park, which it says will be dedicated to employee wellbeing.

Its will also feature a barista coffee bar, pizzeria, outdoor seating and yoga areas, which are all to be built around an eye-catching conical-shaped glazed atrium.

But the rooftop Star Wars bar could be the go-to place for the 300 Radius staff who will be based at the building, which will house the company's new telematics hub.

It continues the galactic theme of Radius' employee facilities. The main campus site at Emperor Way on the business park, includes a Dr Who Tardis-fronted meeting room.

Radius appointed Caddick Construction to deliver its new £14.6m facility, which will provide 41,043 sq ft office space as well as 128 parking spaces, 25 of which will have electric vehicle chargers installed and operated by the company's fast-growing e-mobility business.

Work is underway on a new office development at Radius Payment Solutions.

Construction work started in April this year and is due to be completed in the summer of 2023, enabling Radius' plans to expand its Crewe workforce to more than 1,000.

Radius is a global provider of mobility and connectivity-related products and services to SME businesses.

The new offices will house the international hub of the company's telematics division. Radius Telematics provides vehicle tracking systems for businesses to manage their drivers more easily, with live vehicle locations on a map, automatic driver timesheets and activity updates.

The company has more than 2,150 staff worldwide, with more than 50 offices across Europe, US, Australia and South East Asia.

Since it was established in the UK in 1990 it has grown internationally by forging partnerships with global brands and has built a loyal base of more than 300,000 customers.

The firm's Radius Campus on Crewe Business Park is also complemented by offices at nearby Herald Park, off Macon Way.

Radius Payment Solutions CEO Bill Holmes said: "Development of this exciting new building is key to our commitment to maintaining a great working environment for all of our employees.

"I'm particularly excited that it will incorporate state-of-the art testing, warehousing and dispatch facilities for our telematics business, supporting our ambition to become one of the true global leaders in this high growth market."

Ben Edwards, manager with Caddick Construction, said: "It's not often you get such a high-quality office scheme that has so many unique elements to it.

"The team are really excited to be on site and I'm sure, as we get towards the fit-out stage, there will be a lot more visitors than usual wanting to check out its 'out of this world' features."
