Cheshire firefighters rescue cat from rooftop near Crewe
A cat has been rescued from a rooftop in a village near Crewe this weekend - following the support of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 10:50am yesterday (May 29), on Coppice Road, Willaston.
One fire engine from Nantwich quickly attended the scene.
Firefighters used extending ladders to rescue the cat that was stuck in the ridge line of a Coppice Road property.
Once the cat was rescued it was checked over and found to be uninjured but frightened.
There were no reports of serious fire incidents in Crewe last week (May 22 to May 29).
On Friday (May 27), Crewe firefighters attended to reports of a car fire on Whitehouse Lane, Nantwich.
The fire that was reported at 1:01pm, was not believed to have been started deliberately.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "A car on fire on a driveway was extinguished by firefighters with a hose reel.
"The car was well alight on the arrival of the crew and the fire is believed to have started due to an electrical fault in the engine bay."
Elsewhere on (May 26) at 6:57am, Crewe Firefighters were called to a van on fire on a M6 slip road between junctions 17 and 18 (Middlewich).
The fire was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus, who used two hose reels.
Water was prevented from entering the road drains by the crews who used specialist environment equipment.
Highways England attended the scene.
