BREAKING: Three Crewe schools close again after burst water pipe causes chaos
Three Crewe schools have had to close again with children sent home, after a burst water pipe stopped all running water.
St Thomas More Catholic High School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School and Vine Tree Primary School, Dane Bank Avenue, all closed at 10am on Wednesday 19 July.
A burst water pipe stopped all running water inside the schools, also causing flooding on Dane Bank Avenue.
Crewe Police officers supported those affected by the flooding.
United Utilities arrived at the scene in the late afternoon to resolve the issue.
At 9.52am, St Thomas More released a social media statement, confirming the sudden closures.
A statement read: "Due to a burst water pipe STM, St Mary's and Vine Tree will all close today at 10am as we have no running water in the schools.
"The road is flooded so please drive with care and thought.
"More information will follow once United Utilities have visited in four hours."
The two Crewe primary schools have asked for children to be collected "ASAP" from their classrooms, apologising for the "inconvenience."
St Thomas More has said it will leave its gates open today for residents to use, whilst the footpath and road remain flooded.
