Plans have been submitted to demolish a derelict former church hall building in Crewe, for a new five-home residential development in the West End of town.

On Friday 12 April, applicant, Mr Dodd, of Nantwich, submitted an application to Cheshire East Council in relation to land on Stafford Street.

Mr Dodd proposes to demolish the run down building, most recently used as furniture sales outlet, for five new townhouses.

On Friday 12 April, applicant, Mr Dodd, of Nantwich, submitted an application to Cheshire East Council in relation to land on Stafford Street (Ryan Parker).

The two-storey townhouses are planned to be made up of three bedrooms, with each having separate driveway access, directly off Stafford Street.

Front and rear amenity space would also be provided on the 0.05 hectare site.

In April, 2008, planning permission was granted for the erection of five two-storey terraced houses on the site.

An extension to the time limit for commencement of the development was approved in July, 2011.

The applicant believes this new application is effectively for the same proposal.

The two-storey townhouses are planned to be made up of three bedrooms, with each having separate driveway access, directly off Stafford Street (Ryan Parker).

A design and access planning statement reads: "The application site is gently sloping, rectangular shaped, covering 0.05 hectares.

"It is located in a predominantly residential area within the settlement boundary for Crewe.

"It fronts onto the east side of Stafford Street near to Crewe town centre.

"Local buildings generally comprise facing brick under concrete tiled roofs.

"The site is currently occupied by a single-storey, former church hall with no off-street parking.

The last date for submitting comments on the application is Wednesday 8 May, with a target decision date of Friday 7 June (Ryan Parker).

"More recently the property has been occupied by a furniture retailer."
