An outdoor artisan pop up market 'expecting 60 plus stalls' is coming to Crewe town centre - offering street food, drink, art and design.

Crewe Town Council has teamed up with popular North West artisan company, The Makers Market - to create 'Crewe Makers Market.'

The first ever Crewe Makers Market will be held along Hill Street and Lyceum Square on Saturday (September 3) - running from 10am until 4pm.

Crewe Makers Market will run on Hill Street and Lyceum Square - alongside Crewe Market Hall (Ryan Parker).

"Hopefully if it's a great success we hope to do it once a month," says Crewe Makers Market events manager, Miss Kayleigh Dixon.

The pop up artisan market, consisting of 65 stalls, will run next to Crewe Market Hall - in another expansion of Crewe town centre's activity offering.

Mrs Dixon told Nub News: "The Market came about due to the need for a community market in Crewe.

"A lot of people had been asking for an artisan market and the town council started talking to operators. They then joined forces with us."

Crewe Makers Market events manager, Miss Kayleigh Dixon, spoke to Nub News (Kayleigh Dixon).

The Makers Market already puts on community markets in the Cheshire towns of Congleton, Knutsford, and Sandbach.

It is currently looking for local business to showcase their creativity skills at the Crewe event - this includes bakers and designers.

Mrs Dixon said they were also interested in local musicians to showcase, and crafters to organise children's activities - as well as face painters.

The Makers Market PR manager said: "The purpose of this community market is to bring the community together, showcasing the fabulous independent businesses at our event, in the town centre and the market hall.

There will be street food, drink, art and design at the upcoming Crewe town centre event (Makers Markets).

"We will have food, drink, art, design and street food all showcasing talented local people. We're expecting 60 plus stalls.

"We want to provide great music and activities, hopefully creating an event that will be in the diaries of local people - creating a sense of place and building footfall."

Mrs Dixon grew up in Crewe and has lived in the South Cheshire town for most of her life.

She added: "My family live in Crewe too so this market is something we're really passionate about.

"Crewe Market Hall is superb and a great asset to Crewe. We look forward to showcasing our event alongside the regular market."
