A new project has been created to secure the refurbishment and extension of a popular Crewe church - with funds now being raised for the construction.

St Andrew's Church, Bedford Street, Crewe, have submitted plans for a refurbishment and extension of one of the vestries at the church.

The church has called the development 'The Cornerstone Project,' with fundraising events taking place on Saturday (September 10) and Sunday (September 11).

This project involves an extension being built to provide a new kitchen, new meeting room and new accessible toilets.

It would also enable the church to improve their existing activities - hosting more community groups and events to reach the most vulnerable.

The Cornerstone Project will shortly be officially launched during a weekend of fundraising events:

  • Saturday 10 September: Family Fun Day 10:30am – 2:30pm. Free admission. Stalls & Games, Tombola's, Raffle, Face Paints, Bouncy Castle, Hot & Cold refreshments, Police & Fire Service.
  • Evening Concert 7pm – 9pm. Singing Sensations and guests in concert. Tickets £5.00 per person including refreshments. Children's tickets £2.00 per child.
  • Sunday 11th September: Service of Celebration at 9:30am.

Mr Robin Edwards, of The Cornerstone Project, St Andrew's Church said: "Our church prides itself on serving the community.

"The Cornerstone Project is an exciting opportunity for us to improve the range of facilities we can offer by building an extension to the church to accommodate a new community meeting room, kitchen, and new WCs with disabled toilet and baby changing provision.

"This will extend accessibility to all and enable us to expand the scope of our activities.

"We will be working more closely with a wide range of organisations, allowing us to reach more of the most vulnerable in our neighbourhood and beyond.

Fundraising events are taking place on Saturday (September 10) and Sunday (September 11) - next month (Ryan Parker).

"Your support at the launch weekend would be very greatly appreciated."
