Large fire rips through Crewe field during hot weather

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a large field fire in Crewe - covering an area of more than 400 square metres.
The incident happened on fields behind Aysgarth Avenue, Leighton, at 3:07pm yesterday (August 11).
One fire engine from Alsager and one from Congleton attended the scene - putting out the large blaze.
The field fire was located close to a children's play area and Leighton housing estate.
It happened in the midst of the UK heatwave with temperatures continuing to rise this weekend.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: "A fire involved a field and covered some 400 square metres.
"A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames."

Firefighters remained at the site until late yesterday evening - ensuring the area was safe.
Last night, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, also dealt with a large hedge fire in a Crewe field.
The incident off Church Lane, Wistaston, was reported at 6:39pm.
Firefighters from Crewe used one hose reel jet to tackle approximately 60 metres of hedgerow.
