A new children and families hub has opened in Crewe town centre - offering a new entertainment facility to children and families in the local area.

The Wishing Well Children and Families Hub, Chester Bridge, officially opened at 11am on Wednesday (September 21).

Based in Crewe, The Wishing Well Project, got the keys for the former Financial Experts unit back in May.

This charity project, supported by the volunteering work of Radius Crewe employees and its partners - took approximately three months to complete.

The new hub was chosen at this location so local people could walk to and get to the facility easily.

It includes a gaming area, pool table, table top football, lounge, meeting room and crèche.

Wishing Well Project CEO, Mr Charles Maines, expressed his delight at the official opening of the Children and Families Hub.

He told Nub News: "The vision has come to life and it's great to see people here. We want families and children accessing it.

"I am really pleased with the standard of the new hub.

"This is a testament to the work of Mabyn Meredith, our head of children and families, who has led the project really well.

"There have been a few hurdles and barriers along the way, but she has managed everything perfectly and we're now in a really good place."

Back in June, Crewe Nub News visited the Chester Bridge site to see the charity's vision and work commencing on the development.

The substantial transformation was immediately noticeable when walking back in through the front doors.

Mr Maines added: "We are really looking forward to getting this hub running now and getting people in here using it.

"We have had a lot of interest so far. People have been passing by, peeping their hands in.

"When anything new happens in Crewe, people like to take interest in it.

"Our job now is to sustain that interest and make sure we deliver really good services for children and young people across Crewe and South Cheshire."

A local resident enjoyed being able to play pool and socialise inside the new hub.

Mr Fray Street told Nub News: 'It's a really nice facility for the whole community.

"My sister, Charlotte, helped to decorate this place - working for The Prince's Trust (youth charity).

"This is a lovely place and it will be enjoyed by many."
