A new Crewe head of business has said he is delighted to be back at a Crewe family-run car retailer - believing it has a special 'personal touch.'
Mark Raby, born in Rainhill, Merseyside, first started with Swansway Motor Group in 2017 - joining Swansway Jaguar Crewe as sales manager.
As a key member of the team that first opened the retailer, the 59-year-old worked to help build the sales side of the business.
"When we opened the doors here in March 2017, it was a new business - we had never had a Jaguar as such in Crewe before, " said the Swansway head of business.
Before working in the car industry, Mr Raby worked as a police officer for the Metropolitan police for almost 20 years.
He told Nub News: "I joined the car industry later than most. I was a police officer in London for the met police for close to 20 years.
"I started in the car industry with BMW, also working for Porche. I have predominantly worked for Jaguar and Land Rover- a total of 10 to 15 years."
In 2020, Mark left Swansway Motor Group to pursue a new venture overseas. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he wasn't as successful as he hoped.
In July this year, Mark returned to the business as head of business for the Jaguar Crewe and used car centre, Motor Match Crewe.
Motor Match Crewe, part of Swansway Motor Group, is located alongside Swansway Jaguar Crewe on Crewe Green roundabout.
Mr Raby felt he was a good fit for the role, especially with his knowledge of Jaguar as a brand and Swansway Motor Group as a business.
He said: "The team are all familiar to me as well as the Directors.
"When I came back it just felt like I was returning from a long holiday off."
"I have a lot of passion for this place. It's great to be back."
Mr Raby is proud of the company he works for - believing it is constantly growing and developing.
He told Nub News: "They've been a huge success. It's probably got the highest amount of dealerships in Crewe now.
"A lot of our customers recognise the name of Swansway [Motor Group] now as the local car business to Crewe.
"You have established dealerships for Volkswagen, SEAT, CUPRA, Audi and Jaguar.
"The company are great to work for. It's a family-run business. That's the beauty of the group itself.
"I have nothing against PLC, but this place has a personal touch. It's all about looking after our customers here."
The Swansway head of business was positive about the town he works in - going out in Crewe for work events.
Mr Raby added: "I live towards Warrington, a 35 to 40-minute drive from here.
"I have been into Crewe a couple of times out with the Swansway team for things like meet-ups and celebrations.
"We often use the Duke of Gloucester pub, University Way. It's a nice pub and a nice area to work in."
Mr Raby says he now aims to ensure both the Jaguar and Motor Match Swansway sites as successful as they can be.
