The "caring and kind" manager of Nando's Crewe sadly passed away over the weekend, with the store temporarily closed during this sad time.

Craig Chesters died on Saturday 3 August, following a battle with bowel cancer since May this year.

The late manager started his career as an assistant matter with the Afro-Portuguese chain on Crewe's Grand Junction Retail Park in January 2018.

Craig Chesters worked in several restaurants throughout his career, including Stoke Potteries and Stafford, starting and finishing his career at Crewe (Ryan Parker).

Craig worked in several restaurants throughout his career, including Stoke Potteries and Stafford, before coming back to Crewe.

Husband to Rachel Chesters, Craig still wanted to come into work and help his team until the end.

Patrao of Crewe Nando's, Anne Shields has created a Go Fund Me page to support Craig's family in organising his funeral.

Anne said: "Craig started his Nando's journey back in January 2018 as an assistant manager, and has brightened up so many lives since then.

"He was truly, such a passionate and positive human, whose smile and enthusiasm for life was so contagious to everyone around him.

"Craig worked in several restaurants throughout his Nando's journey starting in Crewe, before heading over to Stoke Potteries, then offered his help at Stafford, before ending his journey where he began, in Crewe.

Nando's Crewe is temporarily closed during this sad time (Nando's Crewe).

"I had the absolute pleasure of being Craig's patrao for the last three to four years, at both Stoke and Crewe, and what Craig brought to the team will never be replaced.

"From baking the most delicious brownies for us all, to telling stories of his passion for travel and his terrible jokes, he never failed to bring laughter into any room he walked in to.

"Craig was larger than life itself, and the void he has left behind will never be filled.

"He was so caring and kind, always putting others needs before his own, and even during the recent tough months, he still wanted to come into work and spread his joy, despite his own struggles.

"My heart truly goes out to his wife Rachel, and all his family and friends during this difficult time.
