Man dies on Manchester to Crewe railway line

A man has died after being hit by a train near a Cheshire station - just a 23-minute ride from Crewe.
The incident happened on Sunday (June 26) at 2:21pm - close to Goostrey Railway Station, Cheshire.
British Transport Police (BTP) were immediately called to the scene - approximately 12 miles from Crewe.
North West Ambulance Service paramedics rushed to the scene. They checked the man over and sadly pronounced him dead.
British Transport Police do not believe the man's death was suspicious.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line in Goostrey, Cheshire at 2:21pm on Sunday (June 26), following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Due to the collision, the line between Wilmslow and Crewe was blocked for several hours.
National Rail and Nothern Rail sent out warnings to passengers of the delays.
A social media statement from National Rail during the incident read: "Lines have reopened between Wilmslow and Crewe following the earlier incident where a person was hit by a train.
"Trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised. This is expected until 6pm."
The train travelling between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston - stopping at Crewe.
This sad news comes just five weeks after a man was hit by a train and died on the Crewe to Liverpool railway line by Hartford Railway Station, Cheshire.
