Man dies on Crewe to Liverpool railway line
A man has died after being hit by a train near a Cheshire station - just a 12-minute ride from Crewe.
The incident happened on Monday (May 23), at 4pm, close to Hartford Railway Station, Cheshire.
British Transport Police were immediately called to the scene - approximately 14 miles from Crewe Railway Station.
North West Ambulance Service paramedics rushed to the scene. They checked the man over and sadly pronounced him dead.
Cheshire Police also attended. Police officers are still working to identity the man and identify his next of kin.
On Monday, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At 4pm on Monday, 23 May, police were called to reports that a man had been hit by a train at Hartford train station, Northwich.
"Officers are in attendance at the scene and the station is closed as a result of the incident.
"Trains are also suspended on the West Coast Mainline between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street as a result of the incident."
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A number of West Coast passengers faced long delays on Monday.
Avanti West Coast notified its customers of delays on Twitter just before 4:30pm.
All lines were blocked as a result of the incident and lasted for approximately 45 minutes.
This incident comes just three years after another man sadly died after being hit by a train at Hartford Station in 2019.
