Leading UK stationery retailer considers taking on Crewe town centre Post Office
A leading UK stationery retailer is considering taking on Crewe town centre's Post Office - set to close down with WHSmith this spring.
Ryman, Victoria Centre, wants to keep Crewe town centre's Post Office within the same shopping area - moving the service into its own store.
WHSmith said it is now unable to trade 'viably' from this Crewe location - closing the store at its next lease expiry.
Closures of WHSmith and Post Office were initially set for Saturday 18 March.
These dates were pushed back two weeks to help the Post Office find a new franchise partner.
In December, WHSmith confirmed it will be permanently closing down its Victoria Centre store on Saturday 1 April, 2023 - with the Post Office.
On Tuesday (January 10), Ryman confirmed it was looking at taking on Crewe's Post Office.
The stationery retailer, who's HQ is based in Crewe, said it has no plans to relocate but wants to help the town keep its local services.
A Ryman spokesperson told Nub News: "Ryman has no plans to relocate.
"But, we are always looking at options on how we can serve our communities better, to keep local services."
Other Post Offices Crewe customers can use include: Haslington, North Street, Rope Lane, Readesdale Avenue and West Street.
