A 64-year-old Crewe man has been jailed for 54 months over historic sexual abuse of a girl under the age of 13 - taking place during the 1990s.
William Byrne, of Badger Avenue, Crewe, was sentenced to prison at Chester Crown Court on Thursday (January 5).
Byrne pleaded guilty to one count of indecent assault of a girl under the age of 13 by touching.
The former karate instructor had been charged by police with 11 historic counts of indecent assault on a girl during the 1990s.
These incidents took place between 10 October 1990 and 31 December 1995, involving one individual.
Byrne was sentenced to 54 months imprisonment, handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The Crewe man was also placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for life.
Byrne's other 10 counts of indecent assault he pleaded not guilty to will remain on file.
The West End man's trial was originally set to take place in May 2022.
This was delayed and postponed to November 2022 - with Byrne pleading guilty on the second day.
