A family-inspired Afro-Caribbean food stall is touring around the local area for 'everyone to try' - including multiple locations in Crewe.

The Sunshine Street Food Company was started five years ago in Crewe by business owner, Mr Martin Mitchell- with the food stall picking up to pre COVID-19 trade levels.

"I love the food my family makes and didn't see it represented enough at festivals," said Mr Mitchell.

The Sunshine Street Food Company sells Afro-Caribbean food - serving the likes of jerk chicken, halloumi and goat curry (Ryan Parker).

The Sunshine Street Food Company was inspired by Mr Mitchell's family - fusing Caribbean and African food together.

Mr Mitchell told Nub News: "My family inspired me to open this food stall. I checked out a number of stalls at festivals and didn't really like what I was eating.

"I thought Caribbean cuisine was being forgotten about and wanted to open it up to everyone to try.

"It was my love and passion for cooking which ultimately made me want to run this stall - selling the food I grew up on.

"I've been cooking all my life. I live in Crewe and enjoy trying my stall out at different locations.

"My mum's Jamaican and my dad's Kenyan. On my dad's side, his mum is Indian. There are a lot of food influences.

Mr Mitchell said: "My most popular items are the jerk chicken, the jerk chicken and halloumi and curried goat rice and peas.

"I have other items that people like when I move to different places - such as chicken and sweet potato curry.

"Sometimes I get private lunch time bookings for different locations.

"On the days I am not here I will be travelling around to different companies.

Mr Mitchell added: "People should broaden their horizons to try different cuisines. Here you can get the taste of the Caribbean and African blended into one.

"People can come and try something totally different to what they're used to.

The Sunshine Street Food Company is operating outside Tom's Tap, Thomas Street, from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday 1, 15 and 29 April (Ryan Parker).
