'Traditional' Crewe fish and chip shop reopens with fresh revamp following 'lots of drama'
A 'traditional' Crewe fish and chip shop has reopened with a fresh revamp under new management - following 'lots of drama' affecting the business in recent times.
Minshull Fish & Chips, Minshull New Road, officially reopened in January 2023 - after being taken over by business manager, Mr Alvin Amede, in October 2022.
"This place was in a bad way and totally empty. I renovated the shop and totally modernised it inside, said Nantwich resident, Mr Amede.
Minshull Fish & Chips, (previously known as Fishy Business), is operated by Mr Amede and two other members of staff.
The Crewe takeaway business had closed down in June last year - after losing over half of its trade during the Middlewich Road closure.
Mr Amede took over the takeaway during a period of 'lots of drama' with issues involving roadworks, the business telephone and the actual unit.
The new manager told Nub News: "The chip shop had closed during a rough time. I spoke to the landlord who I already knew and I took over the lease here.
"The Middlewich Road closure caused this business lots of problems. Its reopening was pushed back until February which gave this shop another setback.
"There were then roadworks on Minshull New Road which caused more traffic problems. People really struggled to park to order and collect our food.
"There was nothing we could do about the issues we faced. There was so much drama.
"Sometimes I would look out of the window with popcorn as all of the drama was happening outside.
"Cars were getting stuck, horns were beeping, we had no telephone. I am just glad it's finally sorted."
Minshull Fish & Chips now has a new IP telephone system to take orders - as well as a new menu and delivery service.
The chip shop serves 'traditional' fish and chips, along with new food items - such as burgers, kebabs and pizzas.
Mr Amede said: "When I took over this place, I had the idea to offer traditional fish and chips with pizzas, burgers and kebab meat as well.
"We have expanded what was sold here before. We now do milkshakes and so many meal deals.
"Everything is now sorted and we are starting to get more customers.
"Our feedback so far has been very good. I check what our customers make of our food and we often receive five star reviews online.
"At the moment we are mainly receiving custom from the West End of town.
"We are an experienced team. I have operated a number of takeaway businesses in Crewe."
Mr Amede has previously managed Best Kebab and Apo's Kebab, Nantwich Road.
After running an eatery in Bradford, Mr Amede most recently operated Dena Takeout, Edleston Road - until taking over Minshull Fish & Chips.
The experienced takeaway manager added: "Our chips are traditional and our preparation area is nice and tidy.
"Minshull Fish & Chips also received a five-star food hygiene rating in February.
"I think this business can receive a lot more trade.
"Within one year of reopening I hope for it to be a big success with lots of new customers."
Minshull Fish & Chips is open 12pm to 9pm (Monday to Thursday) and 12pm until 9:30pm (Friday and Saturday).
