Firefighters close roads following reports of 'falling bricks' from Crewe chimney
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service closed two roads in Crewe while dealing with an "unsafe" chimney stack in the town, with bricks seen "falling" to the ground.
On Sunday 1 October, the Cheshire fire team received reports of an incident on Union Street.
At around 12:33pm, One fire engine from Crewe and the aerial ladder platform from Lymm arrived at the scene, closing off Union Street and Lord Street.
Crews used an aerial ladder platform to reach the Crewe chimney, removing 'unstable' brickwork and making the stack safe.
Firefighters informed the local building safety inspector of the incident.
Union Street and Lord Street reopened once the area was area was made safe, with no injuries reported.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were called to reports of falling bricks from an unsafe chimney stack.
"They closed Union Street and Lord Street while they used the aerial ladder platform to reach the chimney, remove unstable brickwork and make the stack safe.
"The local building safety inspector has been informed."
