Four popular Crewe bars have made it into the Campaign for Real Ale's (CAMRA), Good Beer Guide 2024 - with one pub making it for the first time.
The Good Beer Guide, which surveys 4,500 of the best pubs across the UK, is the definitive beer drinker's guide for those seeking the best pints in the nation's pubs.
In its 51st addition, four Crewe beer venues have been deemed worthy to appear in the guide, which are:
The Borough Arms, Earle Street
The Borough Arms is a regular feature in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide's with 2024's edition no different.
CAMRA says: "This multi award-wining freehold pub was established in 1867.
"It offers Oakham Inferno and nine changing hand pulled real ales, with at least one dark ale, two ciders, and 19 free flow fonts.
"Hundreds of pump clips adorn the ceilings and walls.
"Upstairs there are three distinct seating areas. Stairs lead down to more seating and a wood-burner.
"From here a door takes you into a partly covered garden and smoking area, with 18 benches. Accessed by stone steps from Thomas Street."
The Earl of Chester, Wistaston Road
This is the first time The Earl of Chester has featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.
CAMRA says: "A small, friendly, traditional two-roomed pub that sells reasonably priced beers.
"The name derives from the Cheshire Yeomanry, originally created in response to the growing fears of invasion from Napoleonic France.
"There are bar and lounge areas, with seating off to one side, plus a separate pool room that may be used for small functions.
"TVs in all the rooms show mainly major sporting events. There are regular quiz and bingo nights, with profits going to local charities."
The Crewe Dog, Crewe Market Hall
This is the second consecutive year The Crewe Dog has made it into CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.
CAMRA says: "The Crewe Dog is within the recently refurbished Crewe Market Hall and shares its location with various food and other retail outlets.
"Four handpumps dispense two beers from Tatton brewery plus two regional guests.
"An extensive range of craft beers are also available on draught. A Real Ale Club gives discounts for customers on Wednesdays.
The many events include quiz nights on Thursday and occasional live music.
"The facilities and most of the seating is shared with the other outlets in the hall."
Hops, Prince Albert Street
Hops is another regular feature in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide's, making it into its 2024 edition.
CAMRA says: "A family-run bar with a friendly welcome for its wide range of clientele (and their dogs).
"Styled after a Belgian cafe ́ -bar, it offers a fabulous range of bottled Belgian beers to complement the real and craft ales and cider offerings.
"The European-style sun terrace in front of the property is always popular.
"Inside is a large single room with the bar on the ground floor, with further seating available in the upstairs area."
Tom's Tap & Brewhouse, Thomas Street also made it in CAMRA's top real ale breweries.
