A new cheese counter has successfully opened inside a Crewe town centre venue - expecting to get 'busier and busier' as more people become aware of it.

The Cheese Corner officially opened inside Crewe Market Hall, Earle Street, on Wednesday (August 17).

It successfully underwent a soft launch during the previous Thursday (August 11).

Retail outlet manager for The Cheese Corner, Mr Daniel Reed, spoke to Nub News (Ryan Parker).

The cheese counter serves a variety of cheese-based grazing food - alongside traditional accompaniments and wines.

"The trade has been steady, there's definitely been a lot of interest and it will pick up from here," says retail outlet manager, Mr Daniel Reed.

The new manager has been employed by local company, Joseph Heler Cheese.

Joseph Heler Cheese has been the creators of authentic British cheese since 1957.

It's family dairy is located on Laurels Farm, Crewe Road, Hatherton - near Nantwich.

The Cheese Corner will be open every Wednesday to Sunday from 9.30am until late (Ryan Parker).

Mr Reed told Nub News: "I think as more people become aware of where we are and what we do - The Cheese Corner will get busier and busier."

The Cheese Corner will offer traditional British truckles (200g wheels) and other cheeses available to purchase to enjoy at home - alongside its hot food.

The idea of the cheese counter at Crewe Market Hall came about following a family visit to the venue from Joseph Heler's managing director, George Heler.

Mr Reed said: "George Heler, came in to Crewe Market Hall with his family one day and saw the different units and everything that was going on in here.

"George then said that he would really like a unit inside the market hall and the development came from there."

Visitors to Crewe Market Hall have been impressed with The Cheese Corner so far (Cheshire East Council).

Crewe Market Hall was originally opened up as cheese hall in 1854.

Joseph Heler cheese was previously sold from the venue approximately 70 years ago - inspiring George Heler to bring a counter back to Crewe Market Hall.

The Cheese Corner retail outlet manager said: "It's nice to have somewhere with the same history.

"When Joseph Heler first started making cheese commercial, it used to come here from Nantwich on board the trains.

"The product we have now was here back then when Crewe Market was a cheese hall."

The opening of The Cheese Corner is the latest success story for Crewe Market Hall, which reopened in May 2021.

Mr Reed confirmed that the ongoing regeneration of Crewe encouraged George Heler to open The Cheese Corner inside the town centre venue.

He said: "I think the space here is ideal for what we want. It's always busy and there's always stuff going on - it's a really nice venue.

"The rest of Crewe's planned regeneration is only going to help attract more people into the town centre."

Joseph Heler Cheese has been the creators of authentic British cheese since 1957. The Cheese Corner is its newest venture (Crewe Market Hall).

Crewe Market Hall's new cheese counter has received positive feedback since opening.

Mr Reed added: "Everyone so far has said that they really enjoyed the food. We got a 'twelve out of 10' from our first customer so I'll take that.

"We are going to expand the menu and will start serving breakfast along with a few other bits.

"We have started with a fairly small menu at the moment and will it build up once we know what works and what doesn't."

As an official opening special, The Cheese Corner is offering a special discount.
