A popular Crewe sweet shop and slush bar has announced its permanent closure from the town centre, just 12 months after relocating there.

Truly Scrumtious, Victoria Street, shut down for good at 5pm on Saturday 21 October.

After beginning on High Street, Truly Scrumtious moved to Hightown and relocated to Crewe town centre in October 2022.

Truly Scrumtious highlighted the closure of Crewe Town Post Office earlier this year as the biggest blow, which is expected to reopen in a new location 'soon' (Ryan Parker).

Owned Mr Darren O'Connor, the sweet store blamed other Crewe shop closures for its demise as footfall fell.

The business highlighted the closure of Crewe Town Post Office earlier this year as the biggest blow, which is expected to reopen in a new location 'soon.'

A Truly Scrumtious social media statement read: "After weeks of deliberation and with a heavy heart we have decided to close our doors in Crewe.

"When we moved into Victoria Street, we were excited that the town was being revived and money being spent to bring the town back to something to be proud of.

After beginning on High Street, Truly Scrumtious moved to Hightown and relocated to Victoria Street in October 2022 (Jan Roberts).

"Now what do we have? Shops closing down or moving out of town and nothing to be proud of. All we will be left with is a new car park for who?

"The day the post office closed was the day Crewe started to go downhill and footfall shows that.

"What we are glad of is we have met so many lovely people who we will stay in touch with as we never imagined that so many of our customers would become friends.

"Thank you for all your support and custom it has been emotional."

Joint-owned by Miss Adel Berry and Mr Darren O'Connor, Truly Scrumtious blamed other Crewe shop closures for its demise as footfall fell (Ryan Parker).

The closure of Truly Scrumtious comes after two empty Crewe town centre units have had their let agreed to house potential new businesses.

Plans have also been submitted for new food and drink outlets and a family arcade inside the former JD Sports Queensway unit.
