Driver carried to safety after car becomes 'trapped' in Crewe floodwater

A driver had to be carried to safety by firefighters, after their car became "trapped" in Crewe floodwater during Storm Babet.

On Saturday 21 October, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident on Clay Lane, Haslington.

At 7:23am, one fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene, discovering a car stuck in floodwater with the driver trapped.

Three firefighters wearing wading suits entered the floodwater on Clay Lane, carrying the driver to safety (Google).

Crews checked a number of the vehicles on the road to make sure there were no other casualties.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three firefighters wearing wading suits entered flood water to rescue a person trapped inside their car.

"The crew carried the person to safety and checked a number of other vehicles to make sure there were no other casualties."
