A popular community centre in Crewe has recently refurbished and expanded its trading area, offering even more for its customers.

Every Friday, St. Paul's Centre, Hightown, runs a furniture sale between 9:30am and 12:30pm, attracting hundreds of visitors.

The Crewe charity, which also operates a food bank, café, bike workshop and eBay store, offers same-day delivery for items sold at its weekly sale event.

St. Paul's Centre has now upgraded its retail area, with more space and stock than ever before.

Representative of St. Paul's Centre, Neil Barratt, told Nub News: "We wanted our retail and trading area to look more like a shop, rather than a warehouse.

"Customers visiting since our relaunch have noticed there is more space and it looks more attractive.

"We have opened up a whole new room for retail, making a nice area for bric-a-brac and small electricals.

"The range of items we have on sale at St. Paul's now is enormous. I am confident this is the best furniture shop in Crewe.

St. Paul's Centre believes its Friday Sale has created a 'buzz' for the sale of pre-loved items in the area, helping to reduce the number of items being thrown away (Ryan Parker).

"Our stock ranges from brand new to antique and collectable. We certainly have furniture to suit every household.

"Prices start at under £10 for a bedside table, cabinet or similar.

"Our stock rotates quickly. If you come back in one or two weeks' time you will find a wide selection of new pieces.

"Our drivers are out delivering the sold items, with customers receiving them the same day.

"We believe we offer as good a service as Amazon Prime. A lot of our customers come here as it is so affordable, the value is amazing."

Mr Barratt said: "We would like to keep bringing more customers in. We want more to benefit from the tremendous deals we have.

"Environmentally, it's also a massive win to shop with us. It cuts back so much on things being sent to landfill.

"By coming here, you are also buying into a big community project, supporting local residents.

"This is why we spent so much time and effort refurbishing our shop.

"Our furniture is most popular, but we also sell textiles, bikes, household items and more.

"When customers come to St. Paul's for the first time, they are really surprised at the amount of stock we have and how high the quality it is.

"Items donated to us have to reach a certain threshold to ensure we maintain our high standards."

Since opening in 1986, St. Paul's Centre has continued to support local residents in need, with its standing in the community "as strong as ever."

Deputy CEO, Jez Chalmers, said: "St. Paul's is the best place in Crewe for local residents to get their furniture, there is such a great variety.

St. Paul's Centre is appealing to local residents to come and visit its Friday furniture sale (Ryan Parker).

"For my son's 13th birthday last summer, I was looking online for a hi-fi system and they were so expensive.

"I found something in here on the shop floor for £40, an absolute bargain. He has been using it every day since.

"Our turnover of stock is incredible and every pound spent here helps local people in need.

"Our profits allow us to then give out furniture for free to those struggling the most in our community, or provide for those referred to the food bank, for instance.

"With the Cost of Living Crisis, we believe it is essential to support local people and at St. Paul's Centre we make that our number one priority.

"Not so long ago, we helped a single mum who needed to travel to work by giving her a free bike. The success of our Friday Sale makes that possible.

"In the midst of all the cuts and austerity of recent years, St. Paul's is still here, as strong as ever, supporting the community it is based in."
