2019-20 promotion winner returns to Crewe Alex in Deadline Day signing
Crewe Alex have completed the signing of a former 2019-20 promotion winner, becoming the club's fourth signing of the January transfer window.
Charlie Kirk rejoined Crewe in a deal until the end of the season, after being released by League One side Charlton Athletic in December.
The 26-year-old forward will need no introduction to supporters of The Railwaymen.
A Crewe academy graduate, Kirk has already represented The Alex 206 times in all competitions, scoring 32 goals.
His total of nine goals and 14 assists to get Crewe promoted four years ago, saw Kirk named in the PFA League Two of the Year.
In 2020-21, he bagged a further seven goals, going on to sign for the Addicks.
Charlton Athletic paid an undisclosed fee for Kirk in 2021, going on to play 48 times for the club.
Kirk also enjoyed loan spells at Blackpool (2021-22) and Burton Albion (2022-23), making a combined 23 appearances.
A Crewe Alex statement read: "Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome Charlie back and wish him all the best for the rest of the season."
Crewe's new number 30 joins Lewis Leigh, Josh Austerfield and most recently, Ed Turns, in signing for the club this transfer window.
