Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of a promising Premier League defender, the club's third addition of the January transfer window.

Ed Turns has agreed to join Crewe from Brighton & Hove Albion on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old centre-back, a product of Brighton's youth system, has made two EFL Cup appearances for The Seagulls.

Turns was recalled by Brighton to come to Crewe as a replacement for Connor O'Riordan who left to sign for Blackburn Rovers this January (Crewe Alex).

Turns enjoyed two loan spells with Leyton Orient, helping the O's to the League Two title in 2022-23.

The Wales Under-21 international scored one of his two goals that campaign in a 2-0 victory at Mornflake Stadium in February 2023.

Turner returned to Brisbane Road on loan in August for the 2023-24 season, making a further 17 appearances with 13 in League One.

The centre-back was recalled by Brighton to make the move to Crewe on deadline day.

Turner comes in after Connor O'Riordan left Crewe to sign for Blackburn Rovers this January.
