A popular Crewe shop chain says it supports the town's recent Knife Angel campaign - promising all stores are 'safe spaces for everyone.'

Co-op colleagues fully support the Knife Angel campaign and have agreed all stores will be safe spaces for anyone who feels harassed or concerned on the street outside.

The Knife Angel was in Crewe's Memorial Square from Wednesday 3 May until Tuesday 30 May - creating important debate and discussion about knife crime.

Co-op says vulnerable people will always be able to stay inside and contact the appropriate help when in a potentially dangerous situation.

Co-op Member Pioneer for Crewe, Ben Wye, told Nub News: "We are working with the local police safer streets team to make stores a safe haven.

"We were delighted to support The Knife Angel project.

"In particular, we thank pupils from Hungerford Primary whose hands decorate the banner created with Louise Rees from Coop Funeral Services."

The Co-op aims to help communities thrive and is committed to inclusion.

Currently they are looking for local groups to apply to be causes that will benefit from funding and support.
