The Crewe Prize Draw, supported by Swansway Motor Group, has presented its fourth charity cheque, with Chance Changing Lives receiving £361.50 to help the charity fight poverty, hunger and homelessness locally.

The donation comes after just the first five prize draws, with Chance Changing Lives using the funds to help plan for the future.

Crewe Alexandra fan, Caira Tunnicliffe, was the latest winner of the £1,500 Crewe Prize Draw, finding out she had won while watching Luther on TV.

Nub News launched the Crewe Prize Draw to help raise money for charities, with Chance Changing Lives one of four charity partners alongside Hopes and Beams, The Wishing Well and St. Paul's Centre.

Supported by Swansway Motor Group, the £361.50 donation helps the charity continue to support people facing poverty and homelessness in Crewe and surrounding areas.

CEO of Chance Changing Lives, told Nub News: "Predominantly, people can come here if they have got issues with financial insecurity or food insecurity, which we see a lot of recently where money is just not stretching far enough.

"You can join up as a member here, pay £5 a week, and get up to £50 worth of shopping. ​On top of that, it is a friendly group of volunteers who will try to help you as best they can if you are going through a difficult time.

"We have got different referral pathways, which means we do not just stop with the help of food, it can be so much more than that.

​"With the cost of living crisis at the moment, it is costing more and more money to fill up our shelves so we can help people.

"Donations like the money from the Crewe Prize Draw are absolutely crucial to us surviving and helping the community. Partnering with Nub News' Crewe Prize Draw was crucial for us because it means we can plan for the future.

"If we know that this is consistently coming in, it means we can make further provisions moving forward for our service users, make sure everywhere is full, and get different projects up and running as well.

​"We see so many working people coming here, whether that is part-time or full-time, we are seeing more and more people whose wages are not stretching far enough.

"This means services such as ours and the other charity partners are absolutely crucial now to helping the community thriv, and just survive in one bit as well.

"It is the amount of working people that we see and the amount of families that are on the breadline, which should not really be happening.
