A Crewe charity aiming to reach almost 10,000 local people this year has received another big cash boost from the Crewe Prize Draw.

The Wishing Well Project has been handed £854.90 from the latest draw, taking the total it has received to £1,633.50.

Supported by Swansway Group, Nub News launched the Crewe Prize Draw to help raise money for local charities, with The Wishing Well one of four charity partners alongside Hopes and Beams, St. Paul's Centre and Chance Changing Lives..

The latest donation is part of the prize draw's wider fundraising success, with £5,389.50 now raised for local causes after seven draws.

This money will help the Wishing Well Project continue putting on activities and sessions for people across Crewe and South Cheshire.

It will also help with some practical work at its venues, including repairs to windows ahead of the colder months.

CEO, Charles Maines, told Nub News: "It's amazing, you know. Anything like this really helps us do what we do, and we're always talking about putting on more activities, more sessions, to help more people. So, yeah, this money helps us do that.

"As I've mentioned before, we've had a few issues with our doors and our windows, so that's an exercise that we're going to try and get sorted.

"The front doors are now fixed, which is great, but we've identified a couple of windows that need some attention as well.

"As we move into the colder months, it's quite important that we get that sorted.

"So, some practical things, but as I said, when we're trying to deliver more sessions and reach more people, the costs keep on rising, so these kind of donations really help us.

"We feel we're going to get very close to 10,000 people this year.

"We'll have to crunch the numbers a little bit, but last year we reached just over 9,000, and we think we're going to get close to 10,000 this year, certainly across Crewe and South Cheshire.

"There's a lot of work still to do over the next couple of months, but that's what we're aiming to do.

"We're very fortunate we've got seven community hubs or venues across Crewe and South Cheshire.

"People can come to us by walking into our centres.

"We've also got the website, social media, and so many different Facebook pages now in terms of Start Well, Live Well, Eat Well, Age Well.

"Our telephone number is 01270 256919, so if anybody wants to go the old-school method of just giving us a call, they're welcome to."

The next Crewe Prize Draw takes place on Thursday 8 October, with another guaranteed £1,500 top prize up for grabs together with four £20 prizes.
