CHESHIRE East Council has issued another warning that emergency Covid-19 funding won't be enough to cover the impact of the pandemic.

While the authority welcomes the latest round of funding from central government - which has seen it gain an allocation of £2.7 million as part of a further £500m emergency pot - it says it won't be sufficient going forward.

BHF's charity clothes shop in the Victoria Centre

BRITISH Heart Foundation is reopening its two Crewe shops and appealing for support as the lockdown has 'devastated' the charity's income.

The two outlets, a BHF Furniture & Electrical store and a shop, both in the Victoria Centre, have been closed since the lockdown was imposed in March. While other non-essential retail outlets reopened last month the charity chose to stay shut because many of its staff and volunteers were shielding.

The car was flipped onto its roof

FIREFIGHTERS from Crewe helped rescue two people trapped in a car after an M6 crash last night.

Five fire engines, two from Crewe, two from Winsford and one from Alsager as well as a major rescue unit , attended the scene of the collision involving a car and a light goods vehicle on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 16 and 17 around 9.40pm.
