Crewe passengers can get to Euston earlier at off-peak rates.

RAIL passengers travelling from Crewe to London are to benefit from big fair reductions after Avanti West Coast began trialling Friday as "off-peak" days.

The rail firm -which took over Virgin Trains' franchise on the West Coast Mainline last December - has removed Friday morning peak restrictions on long-distance journeys to and from London Euston starting from today (November 20).

A SURGE in Covid-19 infection rates in recent days in Cheshire East has prompted a call for a new test and trace system to be established.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the borough jumped by 188 yesterday. That took the total of Covid cases reported over the last seven days (up to November 12) to 928, a rise of 16 per cent on the previous week.
