An X Factor winner and pantomime star is set to headline Crewe's 2023 Christmas Light Switch On, along with a special festive market event.

The free event will run from 12pm until 5pm, with a Christmas Market sited along Market Street, Earle Street and Market Square.

X Factor winner and Crewe Lyceum pantomime star, Matt Terry, will perform his new single on the Memorial Square main stage, joined by fellow panto star, Malcolm Lord.

This will be followed by Crewe's first ever Christmas community Lantern Parade, processing from the Market Sheds at Lyceum Square.

The parade will continue to Memorial Square in time for the countdown to the Lights Switch On with Father Christmas and the Crewe Lyceum pantomime cast.

Consisting of 25 traders, attendees to Crewe's Christmas Market can expect a variety of food and drink stalls, as well as some unique Christmas gift stalls.

Visitors can also explore community stalls where they can take part in activities and even pick up their very own mini Christmas tree.

X Factor winner and Crewe Lyceum pantomime star, Matt Terry, will perform his new single on the Memorial Square main stage, joined by fellow panto star, Malcolm Lord (Crewe Lyceum Theatre).

Young children are invited to send letters to Father Christmas at Crewe Library, with mini funfair rides to be set up on Market Square.

Live music, dance and theatre performance will take place throughout the afternoon on the main stage (compered by the CAT Radio).

Additional festive entertainment will take place beside the Christmas Tree on Market Square, with musical performances from Crewe Brass Band, the Wirral Pipe Band, local choirs and more.

A Crewe Town Council spokesperson told Nub News: "We are very excited by the Christmas Lights Switch On event programme this year.

"We can't wait to see Crewe families having lots of fun throughout the town centre on the day.

Crewe's first ever Christmas community Lantern Parade will process from the Market Sheds at Lyceum Square and run to Memorial Square (Crewe Town Council).

"Christmas is a special time of year and we are looking forward to starting off the festive period with free activities that everyone can enjoy."
