Old school BMX fans from across the UK came together for a day of cycling, socialising and plenty of nostalgia during the annual Crewe and Cheshire ride out.

The popular event took place on Saturday 12 September, bringing together enthusiasts from Crewe, Nantwich, Northwich, Wigan, North Wales and much further afield.

Among those making the journey was Sean Stiddard, who travelled all the way from Bristol, while Byron came from North Wales and Anthony made the trip from Wigan.

Organised by long-time BMX enthusiasts John Collins and Des Green, the event began with breakfast at The Bistro at Belong Crewe on Brookhouse Drive.

The riders then set off on a social ride around the area, stopping for refreshments at The Raven on Brookhouse Drive, The Woodside on Valley Roae and the new Marshfield Bank Farm House Wetherspoon on Coppenhall Lane.

The ride finished at The Rising Sun Inn on Middlewich Road in Wistaston, where participants could relax and continue catching up with fellow BMX enthusiasts.

The event was open to everyone and featured a mixture of vintage racing and freestyle BMX bikes from the 1980s alongside modern machines.

Among the highlights were two impressive BMX cruisers. Co-organiser, John Collins, proudly rode his bespoke JC Robinson Pro 24-inch cruiser, complete with chrome frame and forks, pads and platform pedals.

Former track racer Sean Stiddard brought along his purpose-built Skyway TA, complete with distinctive Skyway wheels.

The September gathering was the second Crewe and Cheshire old school BMX ride out of 2026, following the club's main annual event held on the last Bank Holiday in May.

John Collins said: "Thank you to everyone who attended the event from all over the UK. The weather turned out great and I hope everyone enjoyed it.

"It's great for our mental health to meet up and exercise together and chat as adults."
