A Cheshire Police investigation is underway after a van and car were engulfed by flames, in a suspected arson attack in Crewe.

On Saturday 17 August, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident on Crewe Road, Shavington.

At 1:27am, one fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene, discovering a van well alight.

No injuries were reported in the Shavington incident, with both vehicles sustaining serious damage (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

The van blaze had spread to another vehicle, with Crewe firefighters using a hose reel to put it out.

Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, Cheshire Police were called to the scene.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 1:30am on Saturday 17 August, police were called to reports of a vehicle fire on Crewe Road, Shavington. 

Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, Cheshire Police were called to the scene. An investigation remains ongoing (Cheshire Police).

"It is believed the fire may have been started deliberately and enquiries remain ongoing."
