Trailer Repair Assistant - Crewe £22,000 - £24,000 per annum, permanent, full-time AO.com are currently seeking to recruit day shift Vehicle Maintenance Assistants to take over from their late shift technicians and provide essential maintenance and repair until the evening shift begins. The first two weeks will be spent with technicians and providing on the job training if required. Here's what you can expect to be doing:Repairing all damages that may occur to the trailers using your knowledge to find the correct method to repair. The fleet includes light commercial, HGV's, conventional and double decker trailers. AO.com are looking for somebody who has a can do attitude while completing work to a high standard in a busy, fast-paced environment.
A few things about you:
You will be able to build lasting, effective relationships with people around you, even under pressure and in difficult situations. You must be bold enough to challenge any vehicle issues or damages whilst being smart enough to think on your feet. You will be passionate about the role and be driven to push our fleets' performance forward. Skills and experience needed to become our Trailer Repair Assistant:You must hold a clean driving licence. A trailer repair background will be desired but not essential but a similar working environment or experience would be a bonus. This is what you can be expected to be doing;
- To repair trailer curtains with rips and tears.
- Bulb and Mirror Changes- Buckle and Strap Replacements
- To repair/replace damaged flooring on HGV trailers.- General repairs to the HGV trailer fleet
- General maintenance of the AO Logistics fleet - identifying faults, making improvements, keeping accurate records, exceeding demanding quality and safety standards.- To be aware of and adhere to all necessary company standards and Health and Safety procedures.
- Recording all repairs and parts that have been used.- Full driving licence required

- Industry-wide driver assessments
- A full medical check
Offer of employment: If successful throughout the recruitment process, you will be held in our 'Talent Pool' until a training course becomes available. Once a start date is confirmed, you will be required to attend a medical appointment and undergo a basic background and reference checks.
Training: The role of a train driver is highly skilled and an extensive training programme is provided for all trainee train drivers. Our training programme is 34 weeks long, and during this time you will learn all the theory of train driving, drive our train simulators to familiarise yourself with train driving, and then spend approximately 26 weeks as a trainee train driver accompanied by an experienced instructor.
