A popular British bakery chain is set to open a new store in Crewe next month - with major development works currently taking place inside a petrol station.

Greggs will be opening a new store inside Shell Service Station, Bradfield Road, on Friday 14 April.

The British bakery chain currently operates five stores in and around Crewe.

The Bradfield Road shop would be Greggs' first unit in the Coppenhall side of Crewe (Ryan Parker).

It currently has units on Market Street, Beswick Drive, Jack Mills Way, Newcastle Road and Weston Road.

This month (March), Greggs confirmed it would be opening inside the Motor Fuel group 24-hour Bradfield Road petrol station.

Work has been taking place inside the Crewe Shell Service Station for the past fortnight - carried out by Cold Developments Ltd (Ryan Parker).

A spokesperson told Nub News: "Our franchise partners have confirmed Greggs, Bradfield Road, is due to open in April."

Shell Service station's interior is currently being redesigned with only a small section open to customers.

On March 23, a worker inside the petrol station told Nub News work is on schedule to be completed by April 15.

Shell Service Station is closed from Sunday 26 March until Friday 14 April - allowing all planned works to take place.

Crewe Nub News has contacted Greggs for further comment on its new Crewe store.
