Wetherspoon has officially confirmed its new Crewe pub launch date to Nub News, with opening times also now proposed.

The popular British pub chain, with over 800 UK branches, will open at the former Farmhouse Beefeater, Coppenhall Lane, on Tuesday 1 September.

Following the submission of a premises licence application, Wetherspoon wants to open its Crewe branch until 1am, Thursday to Saturday and 12.30am, Sunday to Wednesday.

Wetherspoon has not had a branch in Crewe since January 2018, when The Gaffers Row, Victoria Street, closed to make way for demolition of the Royal Arcade site (now a temporary park, bus station and multi-storey car park).

Wetherspoon's premises licence application reads: "Notice is hereby given that we, JD Wetherspoon PLC have applied on 7 July to Cheshire East Council in respect of the premises known as The Marshfield Bank Farm House (formerly the Farmhouse), Coppenhall Lane, Woolstanwood, Crewe.

Wetherspoon wants to open its new Crewe pub until 1am, Thursday to Saturday and 12.30am, Sunday to Wednesday.

"This for a premises licence to provide the following licensable activities:

"Sale of alcohol between 8am and 12.30am, Sunday to Wednesday, and 8am to 1am Thursday to Saturday. Alcohol sold for consumption on and off the premises.

"Late night refreshment between 11pm and 12.30am, Sunday to Wednesday and 11pm to 1am, Thursday to Saturday.

"Extensions to the above hours are sought for certain non-standard days, details of which are contained in the notice of application."

Representations to Wetherspoons' application shall be made in writing to Cheshire East Council Licensing Section on or before Tuesday 4 August.

You can also submit your representation by emailing: [email protected].

With local sites in nearby Sandbach, Congleton, Northwich and Winsford, Wetherspoon returns to Crewe at the end of the summer.

All ex-Beefeater staff have been offered roles at the new Crewe West pub.
