A man from Wilmslow has died after being found unresponsive in a Crewe hotel while on police bail.

Raymond Bolam, 75, was found in bed at the Belvilla Crewe Lifestyle Hotel, Macon Way on Wednesday 26 August.

A member of hotel staff discovered him unresponsive and alerted their manager, who called emergency services.

Mr Bolam was taken to Leighton Hospital but sadly died the following day.

The Cheshire man had been on police bail at the time of his death, but had not been formally charged with a crime.

He was found surrounded by medication boxes, while a part-drunk bottle of whisky was also nearby.

Mr Bolam's death was reported to the coroner and is not being treated as suspicious.

At an inquest hearing on Wednesday 9 September, assistant coroner, Elizabeth Wheeler, said a post-mortem examination found no recreational drugs in his system.
