Two men have been charged after attempting to carry knives into a Crewe pub, with no one injured thanks to the fast actions of staff and police.
During the early hours on Saturday 6 April, Cheshire Police were alerted to a bladed article being found on a male at The Imperial, Edleston Road, after being searched on entry.
At around 1am, officers arrived at the scene, arresting the male and seizing a lock knife.
A second man at the venue was searched by Imperial staff and officers, with another knife found and he was also arrested.
Stavros Papoutsis, 43, of Nantwich Road, Crewe, and Kamil Kasendra, 32, of Świdnica, Poland, have been charged each with one count of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Papoutsis has been released on bail and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 21 May.
Kasendra has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday 8 April.
Joint-owner of The Imperial, Lauri Pass, said: "When you're standing at our doors moaning about searches or sometimes being abusive about it, this is the reason why.
"You don't see how many dangerous things we confiscate off people and the reports to police.
"So know in our venue you are safe as people are searched on the door for that reason, our team and customers' safety comes first everytime."
