Crewe Lyceum Theatre delivers a monster performance of Beauty and the Beast for 2024's Christmas panto, with funnyman Ste Johnston the star of the show.

The family production, also starring The Chase's Jenny Ryan, Malcolm Lord and Hollie Smith-Nelson, runs until Sunday 5 January.

Ste as Sammy Scrub-it, gives everything to the role and more, making audiences laugh from start to finish.

There are more strings to his bow than just hilarious buffoonery, he is the perfect improviser and the master of tongue twisters.

TV star, Jenny, as The Enchantress, shows why she came third in The X Factor: Celebrity, delivering a powerful musical performance.

Credit is due to the Imagine Theatre team for playing Jenny to her strengths, showcasing her 'Bolton Brainiac' temperament with new panto charm.

Malcolm, who plays Cynthia Scrub-it in his eighth consecutive year at Crewe Lyceum, shows why he keeps returning to the Edwardian venue.

Both he and Ste, who play mother and daughter in the panto, give 90s Chuckle Brother vibes, playing off each other with flawless chemistry.

But Malcolm in his own right is a pleasure to watch, he is the epitome of traditional theatre.

Hollie, who plays Belle, shows her natural singing qualities. She has the biggest smile in the entire venue, uplifting the entire spectacle.

Another standout, is Michael Quinn, in his role as the boastful Gaston. He had children and adults in screaming hysterics time and time again.

David J Higgins, as Harold, and James Wilkinson, as the beast (huge), all add to what is a professional and inventive production, making this a five out of five.
