Crewe Alex manager turns down 'approach' from League One club
Crewe Alex manager, Lee Bell, will continue on as the boss for 2024/25, after turning down an "approach" from a lowly League One side.
On Monday 16 December, Bell turned down an offer from Burton Albion, a side without a permanent boss since sacking Mark Robinson in October.
The Brewers, currently 23rd in League One, have won just two of their first 19 matches, losing 11.
Bell, 41, made a total of 100 appearances for Burton across three stints, playing in League Two and the Conference National.
The former midfielder will stay on at The Alex, who currently sit third in League Two on an 11-match unbeaten run.
Bell, who has managed Crewe for two years since replacing Alex Morris, has taken charge of 114 matches, winning 44, drawing 33 and losing 27.
A club statement read: "Crewe Alexandra are delighted to confirm that Lee Bell will remain in charge after turning down an official approach from another club.
"The manager has reaffirmed his total commitment to leading our promotion push and his focus is on Friday's clash with Colchester United at Mornflake Stadium."
Crewe take on Colchester United at Mornflake Stadium with a huge ticket price reduction on Friday 19 December (7.45pm), with over six thousand tickets sold.
