A new takeaway in Crewe is targeting gym-goers with a menu combining smash burgers with a range of high-protein options.

Buns & Guns opened at 168 Nantwich Road on 18 August, offering protein shakes, protein pancakes and protein stacks alongside burgers, chicken, wraps and other takeaway favourites.

Owner, Nabeel Raja, of Birmingham, told Nub News the menu was developed with people who train regularly in mind.

"We cater to a lot of gym-goers, offering plenty of high-protein options alongside our smash burgers," he said.

The Buns & Guns menu includes protein shakes made with ingredients including oats, banana and whey protein, while the protein pancakes are served with fruit.

Buns & Guns has been fitted out with an eating-in area, seating up to 14 people. It is available on all delivery outlets (Photo: Ryan Parker).

Customers can also build their own burgers, choosing the size and adding toppings and sides including doner meat, halloumi cheese and hash browns.

There are also four-patty "quad" burgers, chicken burgers and a new-to-Crewe paratha burger (burger on flatbread), which Nub News tried and enjoyed. It was tasty and without the grease of many takeaway burgers.

The takeaway's menu also includes cooked options such as naan curries and chicken breast with chips.

Mr Raja said the idea for the gym-focused menu came after noticing the number of people taking up gym memberships.

"I noticed a month or so ago that everyone seemed to be going to the gym, so that inspired the menu.

"Sometimes you want to eat out, but you don't want to have something overly greasy like heavy chips.

Buns & Guns is open 4pm until midnight, Monday to Sunday. Last orders are taken at 11.45pm (Photo: Supplied).

"You might just want a burger made with 100 per cent pure beef, or some quality carbohydrates. It is about offering clean options."

Buns & Guns has meal boxes aimed at people looking for a larger meal, including the 'Chest Day' box and a 'Back Day' box designed for two people.

The Chest Day box includes lamb doner, mac and cheese bites, cheese, chicken strips and onion rings, while the Back Day box comes with chicken wings, tenders and other sides.

Buns & Guns also has a dessert menu featuring waffles, milkshakes, gelato, cookie dough and "milkshakes" alongside its protein options.

The business has been fitted out with an eating-in area, seating up to 14 people, although Mr Raja said most of its orders are expected to be for delivery and takeaway.

To me it's no different than all the other takeaways in the town,
If you're a gym person and you want to build a good physical healthy body then there's nothing more than good wholesome made food.
At least you can build up your own body menu to suit at half the cost.
I love nothing more than mums home made chips and a really nice steak 🥩,
Did me no harm,
I was built like a bull and as strong as an ox in my youth.🙂
