New Crewe shop plans to open in former sweet store on edge of town centre

A new shop plans to open inside a former sweet store on the edge of Crewe town centre - with a premises license application being considered by Cheshire East Council.

In February, mr Karthika Asokan and Mr Uthayashankar Manikarasa, applied for a premises license to open Hightown Food and Wine, on Crewe's Hightown.

The premises license was submitted for the sale of alcohol from the new store - operating Monday to Sunday from 6am to 11pm.

Hightown Food and Wine will replace former sweet shop, Truly Scrumtious, which relocated to Victoria Street in October 2022 (Ryan Parker).

Representations were asked to be made to Cheshire East Council's Licensing Section by Friday 17 March.

Hightown Food and Wine will replace former sweet shop, Truly Scrumtious, which relocated to Victoria Street in October 2022.

Hightown Food and Wine will be located adjacent to High Town Mini Market and close to Top Taste pizza and kebab, Spice Link tandoori and My Machine tattoo club (Ryan Parker).

A new shop with the similar name, called 'AA Food and Wine', is set to open on Gresty Road - opposite Crewe Alexandra Football Club.

This store will be run by Mr Gnanendran Arumugam - replacing former horticultural store, Grass & Ground which closed in 2021.

The Hightown Food and Wine premises license application is expected to be approved by Cheshire East Council.
