Cheshire East Council has approved plans to demolish a Crewe petrol station car wash - replacing it with an electric charging zone and jet wash bays.

Motor Fuel Group's plans to demolish Shell Service Station Car Wash, Bradfield Road, replacing it with contemporary car facilities - were approved on Thursday 16 February.

This development will see a new electric vehicle charging zone created with six EV charging bays, a canopy, sub-station, three jet wash bays and associated forecourt works.

A new electric vehicle charging zone is set to be created At Shell Service Station, Bradfield Road - with six EV charging bays (Ryan Parker).

Shell's existing grass island and kerbs from Bradfield Road are set to be demolished.

Trees and shrubs located around the current car wash site are also set to be removed.

Two of the three new jet washes will be covered with the other open.

The application's case officer visited the Bradfield Road site on Thursday 9 February - satisfied with Fuel Motor Group's proposals.

The case officer said: "The principle of development is acceptable.

"The key material consideration of amenity to neighbouring residential properties has been mitigated through submission and review of a noise impact assessment and conditioning of hours of use.

"There are no further material considerations in the planning balance attracting sufficient weight in the planning balance to incur reasons for refusal.

"It is therefore found that planning permission should be granted."

Motor Fuel Group is the UK's largest independent forecourt operator with over 900 sites.

Cheshire East Council's decision for this application came before the target decision date of Tuesday 28 February.
