Popular Brittles fireworks display to take place despite lack of volunteers

The Wistaston Community Council Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday 4 November at the Eric Swan Sports Ground/Brittles Pavilion, off Church Lane (Jonathan White).

A popular local fireworks display is set to take place this weekend but without its initial street parade, due to a lack of volunteers.

The Wistaston Community Council Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday 4 November at the Eric Swan Sports Ground/Brittles Pavilion, off Church Lane.

Gates open at 5:30pm, with entrance by bucket donation (cash-only event).

The Wistaston fireworks will begin at 6:30pm, with food and drink available to be purchased at the event (Jonathan White).

There will be the usual judging of fancy dress & pumpkin carving competitions at 6pm.

There will be no Torchlight, Fancy Dress & Pumpkin Parade through the village this year, due to a lack of volunteers.

Wistaston Community Council (WCC) representative, Helen Gould, said: "We have sadly lost a number of our WCC committee members this past year.

"This leaves us very short staffed for future event organisers and means there won't be the usual village lantern & fancy dress street parade from Park Drive this year.  

"It is simply become much too difficult for us few remaining WCC committee members to manage the street parade safely. 

There will be no Torchlight, Fancy Dress & Pumpkin Parade through the village this year, due to a lack of volunteers (Jonathan White).

"Going forward, we will need more WCC event organising members generally for all five of our village events to be able to continue next year.

"If you are genuinely interested in joining your WCC team please send us a private message with some details of your skills and a contact number for a brief chat."

Wistaston Community Council is desperate for new members to help organise its Wistaston Fete, Flower and Produce Show, Model Boat and Duck Race, Fireworks Display and Christmas Concert.
