Queens Park's fireworks spectacular is scheduled to go ahead on Sunday 5 November, with its popular bonfire returning for the first time in four years.

The 2022 Crewe Lions Club fireworks display attracted thousands of visitors from the local area.

There was some disappointment as the bonfire had been cancelled since 2019 before COVID, but it is confirmed to be back for 2023.

Queens Park's popular bonfire event is returning for the first time in four years (Crewe Lions Club).

The Lions volunteers expect people to be out in force at Queens Park once again this year for the fireworks show and bonfire return.

There will also be a bigger funfair than 2022, with a larger variety of food stalls.

Visitors are encouraged to wear wellies and to bring a torch.

Gates open at 5pm, with admission £5 for all those over five. All proceeds go to local charities.

Crewe Lions Club told Nub News: "The Bonfire was not able to take place last year due to Cheshire East's green footprint commitment.

"We have been in discussions with them since realising how disappointed so many people were not having the bonfire.

"With perseverance we have been given the green light.

"Gates open at 5pm, with the bonfire between 6pm and 7pm. The fireworks are set off around 7pm, depending on people waiting at the gates.

"We can't give specifics on timing as it is all due to the weather. Wind and fog are our dreaded nightmare.

"Blitz Fireworks control the timings all in line with our safety requirements.

"We are looking forward to a bigger and better event this year and can't wait to see everyone coming to the event.

"Money raised helps our local community groups and individuals. It also assists with providing basics for people in war torn countries, as well as those affected by natural disasters."

Free car parking for the event is available at Tipkinder Park and Simply Gym.
