Plans have been put forward for a new burger diner on the edge of Crewe town centre, taking on a former women's fitness centre.

This February, applicant, Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, of CJ's Burger Joint, applied for a change of use at 6-10 High Street.

The applicant wants to convert the old Motorcise Healthy Living Centre into a new hot food outlet, offering both eat-in and takeaway for smash burgers and more.

CJ's Burger Joint's ground floor would be made up of a large customer seating area to the front, with an old store room converted into a kitchen (CEC Planning).

He also wants to install a new extraction system, as well as reinstating the shop door.

Situated opposite Crewe's new Southern Gateway Scheme targeted to open this May, CJ's Burger Joint plans to open 11am to 11pm, seven days a week.

A planning statement reads: "The site sits within a parade of shops and food outlets along the high street and is within a sustainable location.

"The change of use would form a material change to the way the building operates alongside installation of extraction ducting to the rear and reinstating the front door which is currently boarded up.

"As the site is located in a sustainable location staff/customers will utilise public modes of transport where possible as the main road has already restrictions for parking.

"For servicing there is a rear car parking area where staff can park to replenish food stock.

"The business opening hours intended are 11am to 11pm, seven days a week and would be within the allocated hours for a typical unit along this parade of shops."
