A Crewe resident has given their opinion on the state of the town's roads and associated infrastructure - believing some potholes are 'very dangerous to road users.'

James Pratt, from Leighton, highlighted two potholes on Smithy Lane, close to Leighton Hospital - which are a danger to motorists and cyclists.

The Leighton resident reported the potholes to Cheshire East Council on Thursday 12 January.

James Pratt reported the Smithy Lane potholes to Cheshire East Council on Thursday 12 January (Google Maps).

So far, there has been no Highways action. On Monday (January 23), Mr Pratt told Nub News:

"The potholes are really dangerous, it's bad enough a car running through them could easily puncture the tyre, damage the wheel or suspension or worse cause an accident.

"Should a cyclist or motorcyclist hit one of these potholes the outcome could be very serious.

"I reported both of these potholes to Cheshire East Council on Thursday 12 January.

"I since noticed they had already been reported anonymously to the council on Saturday 7 January by another member of the public."

On FixMy Street the report says: "Huge pothole. Extremely dangerous to cyclists and motorists.

"Especially with the very poor lighting on Smithy Lane. Been getting bigger for the past month."

Mr Pratt added: "As of Thursday 19 January, the potholes were still there, and according to the online report, no work has been scheduled to repair these - with no response from Cheshire East Council.

James Pratt said if a cyclist or motorcyclist hit one of these potholes - the outcome could be very serious (Crewe Nub News).

"The other report also mentions very poor lighting, there are numerous street lights that do not work on that stretch of road.

"Two have been smashed down by road traffic accidents and never repaired.

"The street lighting directly opposite the main hospital entrance does not work either.

"The state of the roads and associated infrastructure around Crewe is severely lacking and defects like these are very dangerous to road users."
