Plans have been submitted for an apartment block and bungalows development in Crewe, located at a car hire and van rental company site.

On Friday 2 February, The Issa Group applied for permission to build a two-storey apartment block of 10 flats and a pair of semi-detached bungalows at Afford Rent A Car, Wistaston Road.

The proposed development is to be used as a specialised supported housing scheme, with tenants being adults living independently but with staff regularly visiting the site.

A design and access statement submitted by NC Architecture on behalf of the applicant reads: "The proposal is for 10 flats plus two bungalows.

"This is likely to be a mix of dual diagnosis and complex needs in the bungalows and ground floor flats plus the potential for a more moderate cohort in the first floor flats.

"The design of the bungalows are likely to be bespoke to enable options for very complex cases who may struggle to live directly with others in the same building."

The document says there will be staff working on a one-to-one basis at the Wistaston Road site, with potentially two-to-one for some residents at the premises.

"There will be staff at the premises every day, therefore staff respite facilities have been included in the plans," says the design and access statement.

The lower site of the scheme would accessed via Wistaston Road, with the upper area off Lewis Street (Cheshire East Planning).

The site is split over two levels. The lower site would accessed via Wistaston Road, with the upper area off Lewis Street.

The scheme includes 10 parking bays and storage for seven bikes across the site.

The last date for submitting comments is Wednesday 6 March, with the application due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
