A much-loved Crewe truck stop will "regrettably" close down at the end of the month, with the site set to be used by Network Rail.

Crewe Truck Stop, Cowley Way, will permanently close to customers after Sunday 30 July.

The site, close to Crewe Railway Station, was purchased by Network Rail this March for an undisclosed fee.

Network Rail purchased Cowley Way for an undisclosed fee in March and plans to bring the site into operational use next year (Google Earth).

In a social media statement, Crewe Truck Stop confirmed it was still open and would remain so until the end of July.

The statement read: "We are being asked all the time if we are still open and many people are telling us they've thought we've been closed for some time.

"This is not true, we are still open. 

"We regrettably have to announce however that we now know that we will be closing at the end of July.

In a social media statement, Crewe Truck Stop confirmed it was still open and would remain so until the end of July (Nub News).

"Our last night for parking will be Sunday 30 July. Until then we will be open as usual."

Since Network Rail purchased the site, Crewe Truck Stop has been looking for an alternative site.

Crewe Truck Stop Café will remain open even when Network Rail begin operating at the site.

The statement added: "We wish this wasn't an announcement we had to make.

"We have been looking for an alternative site and will continue to do so.

Since Network Rail purchased Cowley Way, Crewe Truck Stop has been looking for an alternative site (Crewe Truck Stop).

"If we can find another site in the future we will open again without hesitation. 

"We will post more closer to the time but just to confirm, we are open as usual until Sunday 30 July."
