Crewe Alexandra remain "active" in the transfer market and are targeting more permanent signings, according to the manager.

So far, the Alex have made four summer signings, all adding strength to different departments.

Lee Bell has praised the efforts of Crewe's recruitment team so far this transfer window, bringing in four new players (Crewe Alex).

Harvey Davies, has signed on a season-long loan from Liverpool with Ryan Cooney, Shilow Tracey, and Jack Powell arriving on permanent deals.

Bell told Crewe Alexandra's website: "I'm really satisfied with what we've done so far.

"Josh (Kennard, head of recruitment) and Joe (Peach, recruitment analyst) have worked extremely hard to identify the players.

"There's obviously a lot of toing and froing between them and me and the rest of the backroom staff.

"I think we are in a really good position. What's been really pleasing is that players have wanted to come to the club, even though they've all had other options."

Latest summer signing, Jack Powell, featuring for Crewe Alexandra in pre-season againsy Halesowen Town (Crewe Alex).

Bell believes the loan market will become increasingly "important" for Crewe this transfer window, but wants more permanent signings through the door.

A centre-back remains a priority to the club with Rod McDonald leaving for Harrogate Town this summer.

Bell added: "We are still active and looking at players.

"The loan market is going to be important to us, but I'd love to get another permanent signing or two through the door.

"We've got great contacts because the loans we have made in recent times have been successful and beneficial in different ways.

Crewe host their first home pre-season match against Burton Albion at Mornflake Stadium on Saturday 15 July (Crewe Alex).

"Hopefully the parent clubs see their players are getting game-time and developing, so we will utilise those contacts again."
